Machines do not care to emulate humans or their environments. It is humans who wish to be a part of their machines that they have created in order to experience the rewarding sensations. Such sensations could be excitement, pleasure, and especially for motorbike riders, they often say that they love the adrenalin rush. As for me, I wish to experience the sense of oneness with something I trust, with something which takes me to destinations and to “home”.
The project MotoEupho is about my impression with the way humans internalize objects and perceive them as if they were living pals in a subjective way. Motorbike riders have to learn the “language” of motorcycles in order to operate them. Like musical instruments, the sounds of a motorcycle can evoke their riders several patterns of sensations. Those are different from feelings or emotions which can be obstacles during riding, the same as driving under the influence. The sensations motorbikes can give are wordless and clear as machines. It is as if riders’ eyes become the machines’ eyes, and their joints become the extensions of the machines while surrendering to them and controlling them simultaneously. The MotoEupho is my subjective attempt to visualize the “language” of a motorcycle, and to capture its flowing surroundings while I am being busy being a part of the motorcycle.
